Our Team

Richard Pfisterer

Richard's interest in jewelry came in his teen years.  He began as an apprentice under George Mercado himself at the age of 15.  Richard's training was placed on hold as he entered the US Marine Corps, but he never lost his passion for fine jewelry.  Upon his honorable discharge, Richard entered the Gemological Institute of America, where he graduated in the Diamond Grading Category.  Taking inspiration from the man who nurtured his curiosity for jewelry, Richard has instructed many local jewelers in the trade.   Richard's GIA training, years of experience, and passion for jewelry give him the skills he needs to complete virtually any repair or restoration.  They also afford him the breadth of knowledge and creative eye required to create customized, one of a kind jewelry designs.

Mary Jo Duvall

Mary Jo has worked in Customer Relations and Customer Sales since the early 1980's.  In 1998, she began working at  Mercado & Associates Jewelers.   Having a love for jewelery for as long as she can remember and an eye for fashion and design, she quickly found that Jewelry Sales was the perfect position for her.  Today, Mary Jo is our Sales Manager.  Hers is the first smile our customers see when they enter our family-owned store, and the first welcoming voice they hear.  She ensures our customers feel at home throughout their visit, and makes sure that they have the benefit of the knowledge she has accumulated over a lifelong love affair with jewelry as they make informed jewelry investments.

Casually Elegant, Elegantly Casual

Our Story

Established by George Mercado in Baltimore City nearly a half-century ago, Mercado & Associates Jewelers moved to Severna Park in 1978.  Mr. Mercado moved the store to our current location on a few years later.  Today, we are the oldest and most-respected jewelry store in Severna Park.  We are proud residents of Anne Arundel County, continuing our commitment to the community  by donating regularly to local Community Centers, schools, police departments, and various philanthropic organizations.  Our dedication to supporting Hospice of the Chesapeake is a cause that our team holds very dear.

Today, Mercado & Associates Jewelers is run by the team of Richard Pfisterer and Mary Jo Duvall, both of whom worked and studied under George Mercado himself, and with whom he has entrusted the Mercado Legacy.
